The Letter that May Have Prevented War

On Nov. 14, Iraq's leader Saddam Hussein avoided war and relented to months of international pressure by sending a letter to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and president George W. Bush giving permission to let weapons inspectors inside his country to search for weapons of mass destruction. While the general public has not seen the letter in its entirety, curiously, the Chicago Tribune called the letter "rambling" while the Wall Street Journal said it was "strange."
